Top Lawn Watering Tips

Updated: Dec 26, 2018

Water keeps your lawn healthy and supports its growth. However, many people end up losing their lawn due to under-watering or over-watering. You should and need to understand the particular needs of your lawn and water it accordingly.

If you don’t want to damage the lawn grass due to your own carelessness, then here are a few factors that you should keep in mind:

Set a Lawn Watering Routine

While you may find it convenient to water our lawn only when you have the time, this will only affect its health. Watering grass in the evening leads to the growth of fungus and weeds, since water stands in the lawn for extended periods at night.

It’s rather a better option to water your lawn early in the morning. The best time for this task is between 6 AM and 8 AM so that the soil has ample time to absorb it.

Be Gentle with New Grass

Whether you grow grass with seeds or you opted for sodding, you should be extremely careful with new grass. Instead of using a sprinkler irrigation system, you should consider using a garden hose. New grass grows best when it’s watered deeply and less frequently, or else grass seeds will be washed away with water, and your lawn will turn weak.

Check Moisture in the Soil

It’s recommended to water soil such that it moistens soil up to 6 inches down. You can determine how long it takes to water the soil when you do it for the very first time. Use a shovel to see how far water seeps down every 15 minutes and then water your lawn accordingly.

Now that you know about the best lawn watering tips, you should refrain from overwatering or under watering it. The professional team at Top Blades LLC can help you take good care of your lawn.
